Herbal foods are not common plants that we consider vegetables. They are used as a supplement to the daily diet. They are usually consumed in small amounts and they provide flavor to your dishes. Herbs are mainly related to the green parts of plants, mostly leaves, while for the other edible parts of plants people mainly use the term spices. Some plants, such as coriander, are used as herbs (leaves) and spices (seeds).

People usually use different herbs in their diet, but only occasionally, and in very small amounts. Most of these plants are easy to grow, especially perennials such as rosemary and thyme. Others, such as parsley are biennials, and basil is annual herb. Adding herbs in your diet has numerous great effects on your health, but it also reduces the amount of salt, because these plants significantly improve the taste of your meals.

In addition to improving the taste and aroma of your food, these plants have many other qualities. Some of them have antibiotic properties, foe example Thyme, Ginger, Rosemary, Parsley, Cloves an Cumin. If you are taking this herbs on a regular basis, they will reduce inflammation, make you feel and look younger and more vital and improve your health.

You have probably heard about Ginkgo. This amazing herb is used in medicine for improving brain functions. It also aids different metabolic reactions. Plain old Rosemary is really a miracle plant. All in all, you cannot go wrong if you include fresh or dried herbs in your diet. You have to be careful about the total amount of herbs consumed, because some of them contain strong compounds that should be used wisely. Herbal foods such as basil, thyme, and rosemary can enrich and flavor your fresh salads, and the best way of consuming them is chopping their leaves on top of your prepared meals.
